FAQ
Web hosting FAQ
Here you will find clear answers to the questions we hear most often – about our hosting plans, billing, technology, domains, email and contracts.
Plans & billing
Which hosting plans do you offer?
For WordPress hosting and Linux web hosting we offer three plans: Small for up to 10 websites, Business for up to 50 and Unlimited for up to 1000 websites. Every plan is available with or without daily premium backups.
What does "unlimited" storage and bandwidth mean?
We do not set a fixed limit on SSD storage, bandwidth or visits. Normal use for running websites is covered; the resources must be used reasonably and within the technical limits of a shared hosting environment. Details are set out in our terms and acceptable use policy.
Can I pay monthly or yearly?
Both. You choose monthly or yearly billing when ordering. With yearly billing you get two months free compared to paying monthly.
Are your prices shown with VAT?
Prices are in euros. For consumers they include German VAT of 19 %. Business customers in other EU countries with a valid VAT ID are invoiced without VAT under the reverse charge procedure.
Which payment methods can I use?
Payments are handled by our payment service providers, Stripe and PayPal. The methods available to you are shown during checkout in the customer area.
What is the Lifetime Deal?
The Lifetime Deal is a limited offer: you pay once and can use the chosen hosting plan for as long as we offer that hosting product, without recurring hosting fees. The plan limits stay the same, the deal is personal and cannot be transferred. Domains and other separate products are billed as usual.
Can I upgrade my plan later?
Yes. If your project grows, you can move to a larger plan. Please contact us or use your customer area – we will let you know the new price before the change.
Technical, domains & email
Where are your data centers?
You can choose between data centers in the United Kingdom and the United States when ordering. In addition, our CDN delivers your content from edge locations worldwide.
Is an SSL certificate included?
Yes. Free SSL certificates are activated automatically for your domains, and you can force all visitors onto HTTPS. You can also install your own external certificate or buy a Simple, Wildcard or Extended Validation certificate from us.
Do I need to make my own backups?
If you choose a plan with daily premium backups, we keep website snapshots for 30 days, database snapshots for 60 days and email snapshots for 30 days. Without a backup plan you are responsible for regular backups yourself; the control panel offers backup and restore tools for this.
Can you move my existing website?
Yes, website migration is free with every hosting plan. We transfer files and databases and, on request, your mailboxes.
Can I use my existing domain?
Yes. You can point an existing domain to us using our nameservers or DNS records, or transfer the domain to CheapTopHost. New domains can be registered in hundreds of endings.
How much email storage do I get?
Each mailbox has 10 GB of storage. The number of mailboxes depends on your plan and matches the number of websites included. Webmail, forwarders, junk mail filters, DKIM and a DMARC wizard are included.
Contracts: cancellation, withdrawal & Lifetime Deal
How long is the contract term?
The term matches your billing period: one month or one year. The contract renews automatically for the same period unless it is cancelled.
How do I cancel my contract?
You can cancel at any time with effect from the end of the current billing period – in your customer area, by email to support@cheaptophost.com or via the cancellation button on our cancellation page. You will receive a confirmation by email.
Do I have a right of withdrawal?
Consumers can withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving reasons. If you asked us to start the service before the end of the withdrawal period, you pay a proportionate amount for the time already provided. Domain registrations carried out at your request cannot be reversed after registration. You can withdraw using our online withdrawal page or by email.
What happens to my data when the contract ends?
Your hosted data is deleted after the contract ends, and remaining backup copies are removed within 60 days. Please download everything you want to keep before the end of your term.
Can the Lifetime Deal be cancelled?
You can stop using the Lifetime Deal at any time. As it is a one-off payment, there is no recurring fee to cancel; the statutory right of withdrawal for consumers still applies within the first 14 days.
